Facts about Frisco, TX

Frisco Relocation Expert - Realtor in Frisco, TX - Oleg Sedletsky 214-940-8149

Frisco is a city in North Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth).

Frisco is a city in Collin and Denton counties in Texas. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, and is approximately 25 miles from both Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

The city population was 116,989 at the 2010 census. As of December 1, 2018, the city had an estimated population of 182,598. Frisco was the fastest-growing city in the United States in 2017, and also the fastest-growing city in the nation from 2000 to 2009. In the late 1990s, the northern Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex suburban development tide hit the northern border of Plano and spilled into Frisco, sparking explosive growth into the 2000s. Like many of the cities in the northern suburbs of Dallas, Frisco serves as a bedroom community for many professionals who work in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

The PGA of America becomes 7th professional sports organization to be headquartered in Frisco, TX.

The development will feature two championship golf courses, a short course, and practice areas totaling 45 holes; a clubhouse; Class AA office space and PGA Member Education Center; a 500-room Omni resort and 127,000-square-foot conference center; a technologically advanced retail village; parks and open space; and several miles of trails.

The golf courses are expected to open in summer 2022, with the hotel, convention center and other facilities expected to open within the same timeframe. Once open, the development will host 26 championships in Frisco between 2023 and 2034, including the PGA Championship, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

Frisco has many retail properties, including Stonebriar Centre (opened August 2000), a 165-store regional mall, IKEA (opened 2005), a furniture store with an area of 28,800 m2 (310,000 sq ft), and The Star, the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys (opened 2017). Retail establishments and restaurants line Preston Road, one of the major north–south traffic arteries in the city.

Frisco Square, a mixed-use development, became the new downtown along with the city hall. Frisco Square has about 250 rental residential units, seven restaurants, about 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) of commercial office space, and a few personal-service locations. The major development in the project is the new city hall and main library and a public commons. A Cinemark theater opened in December 2010. In 2012, a hospital, Medical City Plano-Frisco, was built north of the theater.

Texas Property Tax Exemptions – Property Tax Assistance

Texas offers “Homestead Exemption” to home owners. The Homestead Exemption provides an exemption from property taxes on a home. Homestead exemptions remove part of your home’s value from taxation, so they lower your taxes.  For example, your home is appraised at $100,000, and you qualify for a $25,000 exemption (this is the amount mandated for school districts), you will pay school taxes on the home as if it was worth only $75,000. Taxing units have the option to offer a separate exemption of up to 20 percent of the total value.

A homestead can include up to 20 acres, if the land is owned by the homeowner and used for a purpose related to the residential use of the homestead. You can own multiple properties in Texas but only your primary home will be designated as homestead.

You may apply for homestead exemptions on your principal residence only.
